Authentic Place

Megalochori Village

The history of the village dates back to 17th century. It is home to historical mansions, traditional houses, pirate hideaways and wineries known for the sweet dessert wine Vinsanto, which is exported internationally.

Pyrgos Village

Built in the heart of the pre-volcanic hinterland, the former capital of Santorini, Pyrgos retains an unruffled air of easy grace. Pyrgos Kasteli is the most well-preserved of the five Venetian castles that once adorned the island. A fortress hamlet that first functioned as a monastery, it grew in size after the arrival of the Venetians at the beginning of the 13th century.

Akrotiri Excavations

The prehistoric city of Akrotiri was once the center of a great civilization that reached its heyday between 1550-1500 BC. The first habitation at the site dates back to the late Neolithic years. The various imported objects found in the buildings (e.g. pottery, jewellery) as well as the impressive wall paintings demostarte the wide network of its external relations.

Red beach

Near Akrotiri Village, you will find one of the most scenic, natural beaches, created by the volcanic eruption. It is enclosed by steep red hills and in combination with the enormous volcanic rocks that have fallen into the sea, its dark blue-green waters and black and red sand, create a captivating scenery of unique and wild beauty.

The lighthouse

Towering above the sea, on a rocky clifftop, the Akrotiri Lighthouse, constructed in 1892, is among the oldest lighthouses in Greece. A square tower, 10 meters high, with a house for the lighthouse-keepers, it stands like a guard on the southern peninsula of Santorini where the sea meets the sky.
